This booklet constitutes one report of work within a large research project concerning external building colouring. The aim has been to determine the inherent colours of nature's small constituents (blades of grass, leaves etc.) in order to increase our understanding of the coloured background which influences our perception of the colours of buildings.

The investigation has been carried out to give an answer to the following questions:

Which inherent colours are common in the small constituents of nature and which occur less often or not at all?

Which inherent colours are typical for greenery on ground and trees, autumn leaves, wild flowers, stones, sand and soil?

Is there any typical co-variation between different colour properties of the inherent colours in nature?

What changes take place during the year in nature's inherent colours?

While this is a Swedish study, many of the results will be common to other countries.
